Deacon Joseph A. “Joe” Jiles, Sr, the youngest of seven children of Mother Rosie L. Jiles and the late Elder Benard Jiles, Sr, was born on December 9, 1962. On December 29, 2020, he transitioned this life to be with his heavenly Father. Joseph graduated from Provine High School in 1981. After completing his high school education, he completed the Automotive Mechanics Program at Hinds Community College. Over the years, he worked several jobs including East Ford Automotive, Mississippi State Hospital, Valley Foods, Donaldson Construction, H & S Sheet Metal, and Oakley Youth Developmental Center. Joseph was a loving and supportive husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was Godly proud of his family and generously encouraged all to excel. He was hardworking and well respected at work, home, and church. He showed his love for others by helping with various tasks, repairing their automobiles, and often praying for his friends and loved ones. He was a third generation member of Liberal Trinity Church of God in Christ, where he served as deacon, member of The Brotherhood, assistant Sunday School teacher, member of the male chorus, and pianist for Sunday School. Preceding Joseph in death were his father, Elder Benard Jiles, Sr and sisters, Mrs. Sarah Jiles Fulgham, Ms. Eunice Jiles, and Ms. Mary Jiles. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Esther W. Jiles; one daughter, Bettina Okafor; two sons: Matthew and Joseph Jiles, Jr; loving mother, Mrs. Rosie L. Jiles of Jackson, MS; two sisters: Dr. Ruth Jiles (Harry) Chapman of Atlanta, GA and Attorney Esther P. Yarbrough of St. Augustine, FL; a brother, Mr. Benard (Bonita) Jiles II of Murfreesboro, TN; nephews and nieces: Raphael (DiYanna), Jared, Marsenio, Ayla Rose, Benard III, and Sarah; five great nieces and nephews: Gabrielle, Jaxson, Dominick, Nolan, and Reagan; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be remembered by his relatives and devoted friends for his friendly, outgoing demeanor, his willingness to help, and his love of making others smile and laugh.
