Obituary For Mark Callaway

Mark Callaway was born on October 11, 1964 in Greene County, Ga. to Mrs. Mae L. Alexander and the late Mr. Lamar Callaway. He attended grade school and graduated from Greene County High School in 1982. Mark excelled in his academic studies. He participated in various school activities, one of which was the Marching Tiger Band where he served as Section Leader and played the trombone under the instruction of his uncle, Mr. William Poole. Mark attended the renowned Clark College (now known as Clark Atlanta University) in Atlanta, GA where he majored in mass communications. Mark was always a very handsome and admired young man; so much so, that he was named a participant of the Clarke College Homecoming Court in his first year of attendance. After leaving Clark College, Mark began a career within the United States Navy. He was stationed at the US Naval Base in San Diego, Ca. He was a U. S. citizen that selflessly served his country and received an honorable discharge. His service to the country continued with the United States Postal Service in Atlanta, Georgia. With his tenure, he found another way to serve with integrity and loyalty for over 33 years. He enjoyed working for the Post Office immensely and was knowledgeable, well known and loved by the customers on his route. Growing up and throughout his adult life, Mark was known for being well put-together and always sporting a stylish wardrobe with some nice jewelry, driving a nice car (he loved Camaros), and smelling like some expensive cologne. He enjoyed life to the fullest and wanted those around him whom he loved to do the same. His family can recall some of his favorite sayings being "It's 100”, “That's What's Up”, and Don't Stress!" Although he was light-hearted and fun-loving at life, he took his Salvation seriously. Mark loved the Lord and accepted Him as his one and only Savior on this side of the earth. Thus, he was confident where his soul would reside when he met with the Lord. Mark is survived by his mother Mrs. Mae L. Alexander, his son Ryan Markell Callaway (Lithonia, GA) sisters Althea (Faye) Callaway (Union Point, GA) and Connie Callaway (Lithonia, GA) and his brother Corey Alexander (Union Point, GA). He also leaves behind his aunts, Jessie (Sam) Swain (Atlanta, GA) and Dorothy (William) Poole (Decatur, GA) along with his uncles, Johnny (Agnes) Parrott (Union Point, GA) and Keiter Parrott (Union Point, GA). He also had a host of adoring nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and colleagues.

Graveside service to be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 12pm from the Greenlawn Cemetery Union Point.
