James Henderson

Mr. James William Henderson was a native of Gaston County. He was the second oldest who was born on July 5, 1939 to the late Taft and Pearleatha Gregory Henderson. He transitioned from his earthly home on Wednesday; January 10, 2018 at Complete Care at Myers Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. James or “JW or Sly Fox” as he was so affectionately called, was educated in the Gaston County School System and attended Reid High School in Belmont, North Carolina. JW was a retired truck driver and loved being behind the wheel of that 18 wheeler and going to different states. He looked forward to the Christmas Holiday because he knew all of his siblings would be together. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a very giving and generous person. He was preceded in death by his parents: Taft and Pearleatha Henderson; brothers: Ezra, Herbert and Ben Taylor Henderson and sisters: Dorcas Bell and Donnie Waters. Precious memories will be cherished by his daughters: Alvira Henderson (Darren) of Charlotte, Sharon Henderson of Mt. Holly, Penny Henderson of Stanley, Cecelia Henderson of Stanley, Jackie McDowell (Lamonte) of Charlotte, and Glory Lewis of Charlotte; his son: Benny Maurice Henderson of Belmont; sisters: Mary Henderson of Charlotte and Myrtle Nixon (Richard) of Dayton, OH; special friend: Allene Henderson of Belmont; twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-eight great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral: Tuesday; January 16, 2018; 1:30 p.m.; New Providence Baptist Church-1104 Old NC 27 Highway; Mt. Holly

Interment: West Creek Cemetery, Mt. Holly
