The Essence of Her Life and Spirit Service for Mrs. Mary Virginia Sims, of Atlanta, will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020; 11:00 A.M. at Eastlake United Methodist Church, 2500 Hosea L. Williams Drive, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30317. Reverend Jesse Gordon, Pastor, Pastor Keith Brooks and Sister Lunell Newson, Officiants, and Bishop James P. Waters, Eulogist.The remains will be placed in state at 9:30 A.M. Interment Carver Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held at the mortuary from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M. on Friday, September 4, 2020.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie Lee Sims and from their union, 3 sons and 4 daughters were born. Mrs. Patricia “Pat” (Marvin) Moreland, Mr. Kenneth “Bubba” (the late Deborah) Sims, the late Mr. Willie “Dupree” (Rose) Lee Sims Jr., Mrs. Jacqueline “Bop” (Jack) Hayles, Mrs. Virginia “Bean” (David) Cox, Mrs. Sharon “Kaye” (Mickell) Epps, and Mr. Dennis “Dennyboy” (Robertine) Sims. Mary’s greatest love was family. She leaves a legacy to her 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and her special and devoted friend, Jennie Neal. Because of her enormous heart she was considered a mother figure to many.
Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 10:30 A.M.

5.28.21 Just wanted to express my codelences to my neighborhood family as I will always be forever grateful that she was my mom's midwife for my birthing at home. She has always been a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. You rest on until we meet again. Thank you for extending your family and home to my family. You will be sorely missed.
