He received his formal education in the Harrisburg School District and received his GED through OIC. After high school, he was an employee of the former Dauphin County Nursing Home, now known as Spring Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. During his working career, he was also an employee of the former Susquehanna Nursing Center and the former Harrisburg State Hospital from where he retired.
“Fatboy”, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed going to bingo, dancing, cooking, watching TV, especially his soap operas and TV reality shows and going to the casinos. He was the jokester of the family and always loved to have fun. He enjoyed being around family.
On Monday, April 20, 2020, Roosevelt “Fatboy”, at the age of 67 years and 11 days, transitioned from this life at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was loved by many and will be missed.
He leaves to cherish memories of him, his two brothers, Anthony Belcher and Robert Belcher; his two sisters, Linda Turner and Arlene Selvey; his sisters-in-law, Dorathea Belcher and Georgianna Belcher; his brother-in-law, Jerry Selvey; his nieces, Cecelia, Anna, Brittainy Turner, Nicole Selvey, Jerrica Selvey, Sheena Williams, De´ona Belcher and Candace Pollard; his nephews, Maurice Turner and Marcus Turner; his 17 great nieces and nephews; his cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, Roosevelt's services were private.
