I was shocked and saddened to hear that Sam had passed on. Sam was always there when you needed him and always with a big smile. I remember being in the hallway and sharing a moment with Sam and Reverend Williams. We would laugh like children then it was back to work. The "Rev", I am sure has some pull upstairs and is guiding Sam. Sam will be missed. When it's my turn I will try to smuggle up some Red Stripe for Sam. There are not enough Sams in this world. Sam has been a genuine and dear friend of mine for 20 years. What a beautiful journey our friendship has been! I have always felt extremely blessed to have experienced the love he gives in his smile and in his caring and authentic attention he always gave to our friendship and at work. Sam, you were there for me in dark, stressful times, and you brought a light to my life when it was most needed. The beauty in that was that you KNEW when I needed it even when I did not. You are a gift from God that so many received and the love you showed for your grandmother and mom was as pure a love as any I know! Love you Sam! I imagine your grandmother greeting you with hugs and kisses in heaven, and that brings my heart some peace. God bless you and your family, Suzanne Ivory Freisen

- na

To Sam's Mom, he always talked about you and how much he loved you and his grandma....as you know, you raised such a good man!!! I was one of the physical therapists that worked with him for a long time and every single session he worked hard....dripping sweat going as hard as he could for months and months.....never discouraged/always positive. He always wanted to do more! He was so nice to talk to and made my day when he came in. Always a respectful gentleman but so fun/kind/sweet....I can't wait to see him again in Heaven! Miss u Sam!

- na

Sammy D!, I'm going to miss you buddy! You were a great man in so many ways. A true blessing to all that crossed paths with you, regardless of how long they knew you. It takes some time to get to know some people, not you. Instantly knew what a great guy you were, and the past 13 years didn't prove wrong. Always had that infectious smile, always! Even on bad days you couldn't vent without smiling at the end with a little chuckle. Hugs and fist pumps upon greeting and departure, every time - all the time. You always asked about my children, and as we'd walk the halls of whatever school you were in, you'd stop and ask others how they were doing, how their kids were doing. You cherished life, and so many cherished you. It was no secret how much you loved your trips back to Charlotte to visit your family and friends, especially your Grandma and Mom. My heart felt condolences to all those that were close to you, and a big thank you to those that raised and shaped you into the man we all loved. RIP my friend. Matty

- na

He was so kind and gentle. He always had a smile for everyone! He will be greatly missed! Karen Warco

- na

Sweet friend, with the biggest smile, you will be missed so much! I always enjoyed our chats when you would "check in" with me. You spoke with such love about your family and always looked forward to your visits home to see them. We would always share our "good food" stories after certain holidays. Rest easy, Sam. I will miss you. We all will.

- na

To Sam's family, I am so sorry for your loss. Sam would always make time to 'check in'. He loved his Grandma and family more than anything...Sam always talked about you. He always had good music playing in his office and if you ever needed a pen, he had at least 1,000. He was the kind of special you can feel. Tuesday morning I noticed tennis balls in my yard which is unusual. I thought of Sam of course. When I arrived to school I read the email notifying us of Sams passing. I thought of the tennis balls. Life brings us comfort in so many forms...and I am certain Sam's spirit is still here. Sending you love and light, Monique Dobbelaere

- na

Sam was the brightness in any day with his ready smile - but also his heart was big enough to make any and all who crossed his path a friend. He made our jobs easier with his tech knowledge and his patience in solving whatever issues we had - he was a vital and vibrant member of our HHI team. More than anything he showed us how kindness, humor and the biggest smile could lift us up no matter how dark the day. Rest In Peace, Sam- "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

It was such a blessing to have known and been friends with Sam. We had just talked on the phone last week, and we had checked on each other's moms as we always did when in conversation. "This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine- let it shine , let it shine, let it shine. This sums up the daily life of Sam Davis. He always let his light shine with that bright smile and his demeanor. Rest In Peace. Dianne and Winston Exley

- na

This is the perfect epitaph for Sam Davis. "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Hide it under a bushel- No! Don't let Satan blow it out, I'm gonna let it shine. ". In a day and time when many complain and blame others, when many become overwhelmed and discouraged, Sam was always a bright shining light with a huge smile , an easy word of encouragement, and an easy daily lesson on how to respect others and be happy. My husband, Winston, and I have children Sam's age. He reminded us of our children. We'd like his family to know that you should derive great joy knowing that you certainly succeeded in raising a son who was a bright spot in everyone's day. He was truly a HAPPY, kind young man who had the ability to make others feel important. Parents can't do much better than raise a child who is truly happy and who lets his little light shine - all the time. May God bless you all.
