Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose for them.” On Good Friday, April 10, 2020, an Angel was sent from Heaven with a message saying “Well Done thy good and faithful servant, enter ye into the joys of the Kingdom!" Eveline Tucker McClendon, daughter of the late Helen D. Tucker was born on September 13, 1934 in Richmond, VA , raised by her grandmother, Annie Boone Tucker and by her late Uncle Leroy Tucker and Aunt Florence Tucker-Brackett. She was educated in the Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1951. During high school, Eveline worked at Florence’s Beauty Salon in Richmond, VA. After graduating early from high school, she attended Virginia Union University for a semester and then transferred to the Berean Institute in Philadelphia, PA to study stenography and graduated with an Associate degree in 1952. She was then employed by Hill’s Directory in Richmond, VA. She met the late Roy McClendon from Donaldsonville, GA and after several years of long-distance courtship, they married in May 1955 and later divorced in 1986. During their marriage, they were blessed with two daughters, Cynthia Yvette and Deborah Denise McClendon. Eveline traveled domestically and internationally as a devoted Army spouse for more than 27 years, during which she started a career in the education, working as a librarian and media assistant with school districts in California, Florida, Colorado, and Virginia. She returned to her home, Richmond, VA in 1990 to care for her elderly aunt, Florence Tucker -Brackett. Eveline sustained many long lasting friendships, a true believer and advocate of the "Golden Rule” Treat Others the Way you Want to be Treated, she drew many people to her through her caring, generous and fun-loving spirit. She was an active member of the Moore Street Baptist Church and its Women’s Missionary group, Funeral Choir, Bible Study, Senior Citizen group and Flower club for over 28 years. With her vibrant energy, she also was active with the AARP Senior Group 390. Eveline was called home to eternal peace and leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Cynthia McClendon and Deborah Morgan (John); two granddaughters, Taylor Morgan and Courtney Morgan; grandson, Royce McClendon; brother, LeRoy Threat; her dear cousin, Margaret Sally; devoted childhood friends, Dionne Coleman Little, Helena Smith Lewis, Alice Mae Alexander and countless other family and friends. We will remember her laugh, her warmth, her energy, her humor and her loving spirit . She will always live in the hearts and minds to all who knew her. She made a difference in the lives of many. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. A private graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 21 at Roselawn Memory Gardens. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be scheduled at a later time.
