Obituary For Woodrow Norris

Mr. Woodrow “Woody” Norris, 74, of 926 Lake Drive Shelby, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, NC to the late Grover Norris, Sr. and the late Mary Lou Lumpkin.

“Woody” was a member of Palmer Grove Baptist Church. He was a very friendly person who never met a stranger and he loved to have fun. Woody was the one who would always keep the family laughing when they all got together.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Norris and his nine sisters; seven brothers and two grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons, Woodrow “Keith” Norris of Shelby, Morel Norris of the home, and Tyrone Elmore of Kingstown, NC; one daughter, Veronica Manning also of Shelby; one brother, John Norris of Shelby here sisters, Isabell Rivers of Shelby and Kay Allen and Eva Jennings (Bobby) both of Kingstown, NC; sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Camellia Norris and Patricia Finney (Willie James); brother-in-law, Sherwood Dawkins; very special friends, Alan Norman and Ed Shariyah a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to recent coronavirus state guidelines limiting the size of gatherings, the service for Mr. Norris will be private. Mr. Norris may be viewed at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

To my family I'm sorry to hear about uncle Woody he was loved dearly and will truly be missed but we all know that God makes no mistakes and he just decided to come back and get one of his children he said he gives them to us but he never said for how long and he left uncle Woody here with us for 70something yes what a blessing to my cousin's I know it's hard I have been where you are now with a heavy heart but he's in a better place and he is telling us all to rejoice and be happy for him for he is flying high and will be with you every where you go I love you all Your cousin.
