Mae Ella Broome Burris was born on May 24, 1931 in Gaston County, NC to the late Ernest and Macie Smith Broome. She went to her heavenly home on March 29, 2020 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, NC.

She was educated in the Gaston County School System. She was baptized at an early age by the Reverend Jeremiah Robinson at Macedonia Baptist Church in Lucia, NC. Se was employed at American Efird Mills until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Ernest Burris; son: Willis Peewee Burris and daughter: Vickie Evonne Burris.

Ella is survived by her children: Margaret Ann Luke and Larry Burris (Nita) of Gastonia, NC, James Burris (Ann) of Belmont, NC and Jerry Burris of Mt. Holly, NC; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
