Ms. Sherri Bass Howell, 67, of Shelby, NC passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, NC she was born on October 13, 1952 to the late Edward and Sophia Kilgore Bass.
Sherri was a 1970 graduate of Shelby High School where she was a “basketball star.” After high school, she attended dental technician school in Atlanta, Georgia. While in school, she lived with her cousins who were like sisters to her, Rosena Lyons, Ann Swann, Janice Swann, and the late Lois Hammonds. Returning to Shelby, she worked at S&R Dental Laboratory where she made lifelong friends. Later, she worked for several families as a nanny. Sherri had a huge personality and never met a stranger. She was an avid reader and loved collecting tiny shoes from all over the world. Sherri was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Richard Bass and one grandson, Patrick Littlejohn, II.
Left to cherish precious memories are her son, Timothy Bass (Carmita) of Cary, NC and daughter, Nicky Howell Littlejohn (Patrick) of Florence, SC a sister, Catherine Robbs of Waco, NC; grandchildren, Erik McCauley of Manhattan, NY, Taylor and Lauren Bass of Cary, NC and Greyson Littlejohn of Florence, SC; one aunt Louise Freeman of Charlotte, NC; two nephews Rev. Frankie Robbs of Waco, NC and Darryl Robbs of Charlotte, NC; a close cousin Jackie Ross and a host of other relatives. Also left to remember and cherish fun-loving memories are her closest friends Brenda Jeter, Charlene Scott, Linda Fowler, Felicia Surratt and many others.
Due to recent coronavirus guidelines limiting the number of people at gatherings, the service for Ms. Howell will be private.
Tim, & Nikki... I just learned of my sweet friends passing today (4/23...So hard to believe such a bright light has left our world, but I can promise you, she is lighting the heavens & making way for all her family to join her 1 day. My sincerest condolences & big hugs to all. Sherry brought so much fun & laughter to our days together at S & R dental Lab...She could not have been more proud of you two! She would get in touch w ne from time to time & no matter the time that had passed since we last spoke. We picked right up. My prayers are certainly w you and all who loved Sherry.
