Rose Nix Fournier

LAWTELL - Funeral services for Ms. Rose Nix Fournier, 66, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 291 Thibodeaux Rd., Opelousas, LA. Visitation will be observed from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Fr. Borgia Aubespin, S.V.D. will be officiating the funeral mass.

Rose was born on April 25, 1953 to the union of Anthony Nix and the Lee Anna Tezeno Nix of Plaisance, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at an early age.

She graduated from Plaisance High School in 1971 and attended Delta School of Business. Rose better known as “Black” later married Ronald Fournier and through that union one child Al Gerard Fournier was born. She worked at Fruit of the Loom, Garan and Tony Chachere’s. She loved to sew, dance, read, work crossword puzzles, watching the news, and staying informed on Queen Elizabeth’s Royal family. Her most selfless and compassionate pastime however was to serve, love and care for her family so much so that she earned the honorary title of “Nurse Betty.”

She departed this life on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at The Carpenter’s House in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her son Al Gerard Fournier; her mother Lee Anna Tezeno Nix; her two youngest brothers Roland and Ronnie Nix; her paternal grandparents Jake and Louise Fruge’ Nix; her maternal grandparents Wesley and Lorina Prudhomme Tezeno; her Godfather Cleveland Paul Fruge’; and her brother-in-law Roy Milton;

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving father Anthony Nix of Plaisance LA; three sisters, Ruby Milton of Vinton, LA, Janice Nix-Victorian (Wilfred) of Opelousas, and Sherry Nix of Plaisance, LA; four brothers, Wayne Nix of Opelousas LA; Jessie Nix (Anna), Jacob Nix, and Willie Nix (Lillie) all of Plaisance, LA; five grandchildren, Allen Jones; Jaylen Jones; and their mother Kayla Ross all of Pearland, TX; Tristin Fournier; Aniya Peltier; Ayden Fournier and their mother Brandi Peltier all of Charlotte, North Carolina; one great grand-daughter Lyla Marie Jones of Pearland, TX; a Godmother Emma Lou Montgomery; two God daughters Racheal Arvie and Crystal Semien; three Godsons Craig Stevens, Wayne Nix II, Brandon Ardoin and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
